What moves over from Housecall Pro

Housecall Pro lets you export your customers, jobs, estimates and invoices as spreadsheets. Those exports go into the box, and on day one it already knows your book:

• Customers, with their addresses and contact details.
• Job history, with the dollars on each job wherever the export carries them.
• Old estimates, kept as history so they show up on the customer's page and in search. None of them gets emailed to anybody.
• Paid invoices as paper. Where an export leaves out the invoice totals, the invoice PDFs go in like any other paperwork and the box reads them and shows them on the job they belong to.

Recent jobs that might overlap what you've already typed into the box go on a review list instead of being added blind. For each one you pick: add it, it's the same as a job you already have, or skip it. Every choice can be undone, and nothing on that list ever sends anything to a customer.

What you run on it day to day

• Quotes with good, better and best options that the customer picks and signs on their phone, and the accepted one turns into the job and the invoice without retyping.
• Jobs and a calendar you can subscribe to on your phone, plus a private link a customer can use to pick an open time. It arrives as a request; nothing is booked until you say so.
• Invoices and payments: deposits, part payments, refunds, overdue flagged on its own. Once you turn it on, customers can look up and pay their own open invoices from a private page, by card through your own Stripe account.
• Your paperwork, filed. Supplier bills, receipts and photos get read and attached to the right customer and job.
• A phone that gets answered, if you connect your own business number.

What's different about owning it

The box sits on a shelf in your business. Your records live in an ordinary database and a folder of real files on hardware you own. Stop doing business with us and it keeps running, and there's no export process to build to leave, because nothing was ever locked away.

You also don't have to switch the day it arrives. Run it next to Housecall Pro for as long as you want, and move over when you trust it.

What it doesn't do

• It isn't bookkeeping or payroll. It hands your accountant clean records; QuickBooks or your CPA's tool stays.
• Texting customers and the phone receptionist run on your own phone account (Twilio), in your business's name. Without it you still get email, plus a tap-to-text button that uses your own phone.
• The calendar goes one way, from the box to your phone. Two-way Google Calendar sync isn't built yet.
• There's no app to download. It runs in the browser on your phone or computer.

Can I bring my Housecall Pro history with me?

Yes. Your Housecall Pro exports of customers, jobs, estimates and invoices go into the box. Where an export doesn't carry the invoice totals, the invoice PDFs are read like any other paperwork. Recent jobs that might duplicate what you've already entered go on a review list for you to decide one by one.

Is there a monthly fee?

No. DeskSentry is bought once, from $3,000, with no monthly fee after. There's an optional keep-it-running plan at $25 a month or $250 a year.

Do I have to switch everything over at once?

No. You can run it alongside Housecall Pro for as long as you like and move over when you trust it.
